empyrea | A dark and wintry day [Minato, March]

If there ever was a literal application for the phrase 'a cold day in hell' that involved living people perhaps this could be it, the swift descent of a blizzard upon Haven catching its captives unawares, from the newcomers that were only beginning to find their feet to the seasoned veterans who nevertheless found themselves confused and very much chilly after the fact.

One such unlucky soul would be Minato Arisato, who'd likely have commented that he'd prefer to be unseasoned if he was asked to comment on his experience at any time other than this day. As it were it hadn't taken the boy long to realize that getting everyone inside the apartment was a priority and he busied himself doing just that, switching to an ice-based Persona so that he could actually feel his hands as he led people back to the apartment.

It would be almost dark before Minato could be sure that everyone was safely inside, and with that he could finally make his way up to his own room, dripping water on the steps as he began to thaw out and look less like a walking human popsicle. He was shivering by the time he was actually able to open the door without feeling like he was grasping at nothing from the numbness of his hands and it certainly didn't help much that the interior seemed to feel just as cold as the outside.

Minato was never one to dally though and he immediately sought out a towel and some dry clothes to change into, trying not to think about how cold it was outside, how cold it was inside and how-

"Achoo!"

He had caught a cold, to be followed by a rare self-pitying groan upon discovering that the only dry clothes he had were his actual bedclothes that were more suited for- well, any weather but this, honestly. Still, it was much better than freezing to death and he made a mental note to not mention that phrase to March as he walked out of the bathroom afterwards, dry if not entirely warm.

[...well, March takes the teasing with...not so good grace, blushing and looking utterly sheepish in response.]

I only fuss because you need someone looking after you! Goodness, Minato, it's worth it for those smiles regardless.

[But even Minato can't deny that he might not be feeling well when he sneezes violently right after he attempts to deflect any concern about him.]

...on second thoughts, maybe not. [Is his nose getting stuffy? This is surely a bad time for it.]

March just looks properly concerned, but also faintly relieved.]

Well, at least you stopped denying it...

[And instead she just tucks the blankets closer around him.]

Don't worry, Minato. A bit of rest won't hurt the efforts at all.

I suppose you're right, and what matters is that everyone's safely inside now. [Regardless of everything going on, the knowledge that no one was left alone is heartening in itself.

He can see the snow from where he's sitting, the whiteness enveloping the city a stark contrast to the dull brown and grey that dominated the landscape. The sight brings a small smile to Minato's lips and he doesn't know why, never having seen much snow even though he'd moved to so many places in ten years.]

Does it snow where you were from, March-san? I don't think I've ever seen this much snow before...it's beautiful in a way.

[the snow, huh--March follows his gaze out the window and at the snow, admiring the view as well.]

At times, it did! Rarely much, and I was usually traveling too much to appreciate it, but those times when I could were so lovely.

I suppose despite everything, it's a wonderful view, isn't it?

It is. How about we go outside and see the snow when this blizzard is over? I'm sure it'll look even better outside.

[...ahhh. March brightens at that instantly, beaming--]

[...and then squints at him suspiciously.]

I would like that a lot, but only if you're feeling better by then!

[That gets an awkward smile in return. Does he really leave the impression that he'd venture out into the bitter cold when he still feels like he needs to thaw out?]

I'm sure I'll be better by then. This blizzard might look heavy now, but I don't think it'd last for longer than a few days...it's a good thing our supplies will last.

[Or he really would have gone out in the bitter cold, yes.]

[yes. yes he does.

if someone needed him to. But March just giggles at that, reassured, and nods.]

Yes, all things considered, this is rather...nice!

Me too. [That sentiment is unfortunately interrupted by a sneeze and subsequent sniffling, but then Minato goes on as if nothing happened- he's certainly far too used to having colds to let it stop him.] Looks like there's not much to do now though...let's just wait it out.

[.......minato......... March just frowns a little at that.]

Yes, of course...but can I get you anything? Your sneeze didn't sound all too good!

I don't- [The sneeze comes back with a vengeance, and a good five seconds pass before Minato's able to actually talk without being interrupted. A brief thought is given to how this might get irritating if it persists, but then he shakes his head.]

I'm alright now. Someone might have been talking about me, I guess...

[...............okay that gets a snort. And then a quiet giggle.]

Rather, I think you're quite sick, Minato! It's no surprise though, with how skinny you are in that cold weather!

[hahaha...]

Let me take care of you, all right?

[Now this feels just like home, with the light-hearted teasing and laughter. And well...it really is a nice feeling being taken care of like this, so he nods slightly.]

Alright. I guess it would be for the best too, if we want to be outside when the blizzard's over.

Precisely!

[Likewise, March is having a pretty good time all around with teasing Minato and having such a light, easy conversation with him. It's...definitely something that March hasn't had in a long time.]

And I do want to go out when the blizzard is over, so you have to rest up until then! I would hate to have to drag you out when you aren't feeling well.

I should sleep soon then... [He suddenly feels very sleepy what with exhaustion, illness and the cold kicking in, and March will always be there later after all.] Good night... [And down Minato goes with the blankets, dozing off nearly as soon as his head meets the bed.

Spoilers: He's probably going to be like that for a day at least.]

[...well fair enough.

March just stifles a giggle before reaching over to carefully cover him with the blankets that have been scavenged for just that purpose. And then presses a light kiss to his forehead.]

Rest well, Minato... I'll look after you.

[In this case, thankfully, he just needed rest. But March would do whatever it took for sure.]
